ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) -- Egypt's ambassador to Ethiopia said Thursday that his government is willing to negotiate disputed Nile River issues with Ethiopia, including a colonial-era treaty that gives Egypt a majority stake in the river. Ambassador Tarik Ghoneim said Egypt's new government wants to start discussions with all nine Nile countries about using waters in the best interest of all. "Everything is on the table," he said. Mubarak said he was surprised when Ethiopia made the accusation Tuesday because he thought the two countries enjoyed a good relationship, the BBC reported. However, the two countries disagree over how to share the waters of the Nile River and Ethiopia has led efforts to end a colonial-era treaty that gave Egypt and Sudan 90 percent of the river's water.
